Morrisons, Sittingbourne

Constructed on a brownfield site which had previously housed the old papermill in Sittingbourne, this was one of the first of the new breed of Morrisons stores which incorporate their innovative ‘hybrid heat reclaim system’.Morrisons worked closely with the local planning authorities to produce one of the most environmentally positive projects within their property portfolio by installing photovoltaic panels and wind turbines, making renewable energy a key element of the operating systems for the store.Gale Construction and the BTS Design Team collaborated to produce a smooth, sweeping curved elevation against a very demanding timescale.
