BTS, a leading rainscreen manufacturer, has earned its third UL certificate to for its Vantage® Rainscreen product range, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to safety, performance, and quality standards.
This milestone follows the successful August 2024 safety tests on the Vantage® DF range at UL’s Telford lab, marking the completion of BTS’ three-year strategy to gain UL certification for all applicable rainscreen systems across the Vantage® product line.
Philip Atkinson, BTS’ managing director, has been on a mission to ensure the Vantage® Rainscreen offering received the UL certification.
“This has been at the top of our agenda for years now; safety is incredibly important to us, and we like to give specifiers and architects peace of mind.
“The UL certification is acknowledged by NHBC (National House Building Control) as a trusted source of performance, design & quality, so this is a big accomplishment for us.
“It also gives us a significant edge since the UL Mark is a trusted third-party accreditation that only comes after passing rigorous performance tests and audits.”
This series of tests follows the CWCT Sequence B, a defined set of weather performance tests designed to establish baseline performance for the complete through-wall system.
These tests evaluate key factors like wind loading, dynamic aero engine exposure, and impact resistance to ensure both safety and long-term durability.
Mark Wiper, BTS’ technical director, was responsible for overseeing the ongoing tests.
“It’s been a long and expensive process, but it’s certainly been worthwhile. As a company, we’ll continue to to invest in product testing to not only improve our own understanding of our system performance and limitations, but to demonstrate our commitment to regulatory compliance.
“The results from these tests form the backbone of project specific engineering calculations that are required for any façade solution.”
The manufacturing firm remains committed to leading the façade industry, with BS EN 1090 Certification firmly in its sights. This certification will further elevate their factory floor procedures, ensuring they continue to set the standard for excellence.
