Borealis

Project description: Project Borealis is a multi-storey state-of-the-art biotech manufacturing facility for microbial fermentation for end client FUJIFILM Biotechnologies. The site in Billingham, Teesside will provide jobs for locals and shows FUJIFILM’s commitment to the area.

Project features and challenges: BTS Facades and Fabrications provided the bespoke oversized feature lens to façade contractor M&C after technical assistance from BTS design team in creating a unique solution that took into account existing steelwork that was well out of tolerance with site measures key. Specification manager, Ben Thompson, worked closely with key supply chain partners AAC to colour match the blue Paroc composite panel with a made to order powder. The colour was an almost exact match and allowed the feature lens panels to seamlessly blend with the composite panels.
